What does Graphic Design mean to you?
Graphic design is a visual way of communicating ideas in a design-conscious way- it must satisfy both form and function in that it displays the designated message in an aesthetic way.
What kind of designer are you?
I am a typographic graphic designer, though I have interests in other specialisms and a keen interest in editorial and book design.
Do you fit into a design tradition or movement?
Not particularly, but I believe in learning the traditions that have been successful in the past and then learning how to adapt or break the rules of these traditions to bring the ideas up to date.
Do you want to work in a particular way?
I'm quite open to the way I work, which I found when choosing specialisms: I will quite happily give anything a go, and will always try hard. I am happy working independently or in a group of similarly minded designers.
What’s your process / what materials / media are you interested in working with?
I am happy both on and off a Mac- I enjoy sketching out ideas and working them up. I enjoy experimenting with different types of paper stock and exploring the print qualities of different materials.
